About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Portland at 4717 SE Powell Blvd, Phở Hùng on Powell beckons with an inviting aroma of authentic Vietnamese cuisine that warms the soul. Established over 40 years ago, this beloved eatery has become a cornerstone for locals craving the vibrant flavors of Vietnam. The warm, welcoming atmosphere is enhanced by friendly staff who seem to remember each patron as if they were family, creating a sense of community that feels very much like home. Visitors often rave about the personal touch, particularly the charming older gentleman who brightens the dining experience with his warmth and attentiveness.

One of the standout offerings is their pho, consistently hailed as one of the best in town. Patrons like Joe Morgunov have noted the prowess of the kitchen in crafting a spicy broth that truly delivers on flavor, with ample portions of perfectly cooked meat and fresh vegetables. The generous serving sizes ensure that every bowl is a fulfilling feast, resonating especially well with those yearning for honest, hearty Vietnamese fare.

Beyond pho, the menu at Phở Hùng is a treasure trove of mouthwatering options. The Bánh Mì sandwiches, particularly the grilled pork and lemongrass chicken varieties, receive glowing reviews for their balance of flavors and textural contrast. Kim Lê-Simpson marveled at how reminiscent these dishes are of Little Saigon, a testament to the chef's dedication to authenticity. The goi cuon salad rolls and crispy cha gio spring rolls make for fantastic appetizers, perfectly paired with their rich dipping sauces that enhance every bite.

For those seeking comfort in a bowl, the Super Bowl is a must-try—a spicy rendition of pho that has captured the hearts (and taste buds) of many, delivering a heat that keeps loyal customers coming back for more. The atmosphere at Phở Hùng is always buzzing, as families and friends gather around tables filled with vibrant dishes, laughing and sharing stories over steaming bowls and refreshing iced teas.

Bea Anderson reflects on the experience of dining here as a heartfelt connection to home, emphasizing the importance of welcoming service that makes every visit feel special. My family has been dining here since the very first days the restaurant opened. It’s hard to believe, but over 40 years have passed. Although the place has undergone many changes recently, the flavor remains as delicious as ever. Wishing the restaurant continued luck and success.

Legit, the only place I'll go to for Pho. They have tons of options, great portion sizes, and when I ask for a side of onions to eat it Viet style, they know what I'm asking for. I get ONINNIONNSS. Plus most of the staff is really nice, but what makes it for me is the older gentleman who works there. He's always so friendly and remembers us because we've become regulars. I love this. It reminds me of home and living far away from my Viet family, it makes me feel so welcomed. This is what sets them apart. My husband says he recommends 37 and that it's bomb dot com. Vermicelli noodles are his thing and I can vouch, their noodles are guuuuud. Give em a try! Love it here! And also, did I mention free tea? NOW THATS WHAT IM SAYIN! In this economy, heo yeah. The only thing I don't recommend is the Chinese fried donuts. It's not fried enough and is always kinda soft.

Very friendly service. The lady asked us if we needed a highchair for our kids, and we said no, but she didn't just stop there and asked us if we wanted a booster seat. That was very helpful. The Super Bowl was fenomenal. I love it very spicy. Lately at other places I haven't felt much of heat in pho. This one got me breaking sweat. That's what I'm after and I got that satisfaction here. The bowl came with plenty of meat that was perfectly cooked. Vegetables were fresh. The servers kept checking up on us but weren't doing it in the intrusive way. Professional and respective. This place is definitely worth a visit and to come back to again

Incredible pho broth here! It’s the closest taste to what you can experience in Little Saigon in California. My husband inhaled his banh mi. Every dish is a generous portion for affordable prices. Pho Hung on Powell is my new go-to Vietnamese spot in Portland. Thanks for a great meal!

My favorite pho in Portland. The bun thit nuong and bahn xeo are delicious as well. I do wish they would slice the jalapeños thinner.

When I want Beef Phó, this is one of my go-to's; their broth is so clean, nourishing, and delicious. They selection of meats is large and they prob size is generous. I've had the vegetarian (tofu) phó, as well, and the broth was also tasty but the selection of vegetables was basically just broccoli and fresh herbs. The service is always on point here and I appreciate the sincerity.

Not many places left where you can get friendly attentive table service and food of this quality in such a casual atmosphere. The rows of bare florescent bulbs make this lively eatery feel charming and cozy —which is an impressive feat! Everything was delicious. Fun place to eat.

Pho Real, It’s That Good Pho Hung has become the spot for me and my girls—it’s not just a meal, it’s our weekly tradition. A little dose of pho-liciousness that kicks off our week just right. The only downside? Settling on the one dish to devour! With so many flavor-packed options, it’s nearly impossible to choose just one. Lately, I’ve been addicted to #57 it’s so satisfying, and a perfect dish for this beautiful weather. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor. Go get your Pho fix!
